A journey through life, where the noise and clamor of the world meets the exalted and eternal. With pieces of particular importance to Ars Nova Copenhagen and contemporary danish vocal music.
Close to all our concerts have been cancelled for the next three months at least - we hare still hoping for a few concerts to go ahead in late May and early June, but things aren't looking good. Until things go back to (a new) normal we have recordings at least. So please go ahead and visit our YouTube page. For the Easter time recent uploads include Gabriel Jackson's Stabat Mater, James Macmillan's Misere and you can also find the complete Tenebrae Responsories by Tomas Luis de Victoria.
Ars Nova Copenhagen visited Tampere Saveel in Finland in June 2019 with a popular concert in Aleksanterin Kirko. Harri Hautale from the newspaper Aamulehti attended the concert and gave it four stars in an enthusiastic review
Conducted by Paul Hillier since 2003, Denmark’s Ars Nova Copenhagen has built an immovable reputation as one of the world’s most versatile and inventive vocal ensembles. First Drop is testament to that spirit; it’s a wide-ranging and ambitious project that interprets the choral work of some of the giants of contemporary classical music, including Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Louis Andriessen, Michael Gordon, David Lang and more.
