Audition: We need a new tenor!
Audition Thursday March 28th 2019
ARS NOVA Copenhagen is one of the world leading vocal ensembles particularly in early and contemporary music. The group consists of 12 professional singers and are lead by artistic director and chief conductor Paul Hillier. With an annual concert season in Denmark, tours to a long list of countries and a long catalogue of critically acclaimed albums the group is more in demand than ever before.
The job: ARS NOVA is a professional ensemble, and singers are paid by the hour. There are typically 6-8 projects of 2-3 weeks a year, which corresponds to roughly 400 hours. Rehearsals are normally held on week days from 10am to 2pm. Rehearsals can take place at other times. When employed you are expected to participate in all rehearsals, concerts and tours.
Your profile: We expect you to be experienced as an ensemble singer as well as a soloist on an advanced professional level. We need a flexible singer with a sound that fits into the voice group, combined with the initiative of the solo singer. ARS NOVA depends on the commitment of the permanent singers and an interest in and active effort for the continued positive development of the group is expected.
The audition is held on Thursday March 28th from 1pm at Lutherkirken, Randersgade 3, Copenhagen or in rare cases by special appointment. Candidates must prepare two self-chosen songs or arias (not operatic) of contrasted style and language. Your sight-reading and ensemble-singing skills may also be tested.
Application with CV (max one A4), photo and sound clip or link to sound clip are send by email to jakob@arsnova.dk. The deadline for the application is Friday March 22nd. Remember to write which songs you wish to sing. ARS NOVA will provide the pianist. You will receive a reply from us whether or not you are invited to audition as soon as possible after we have received your application.
You are welcome to contact producer Jakob Skjoldborg for further information on mail Jakob@arsnova.dk or phone +45 28748037 (9am-3pm CET).
