Sofi Jeannin is Ars Nova's new chief conductor!
Ars Nova Copenhagen has entered into an agreement with Sofi Jeannin, who will take on the role as the ensemble's new chief conductor starting from our Easter concerts in March. She takes over after Paul Hillier, who has held the position for more than 20 years.
We are proud that Ars Nova has once again succeeded in attracting an internationally renowned conductor from the top tier. Swedish/French Jeannin is in demand as a conductor worldwide: In addition to her roles as chief conductor of the BBC Singers and Maitrise de Radio France, she regularly appears as a guest conductor with a wide range of leading European choirs and vocal ensembles. And now, she also joins as chief conductor for Ars Nova Copenhagen!
Sofi Jeannin was born in Sweden, where she spent her childhood and early youth. She is trained as a singer from the conservatory in Nice and later the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. At the Royal College of Music in London, she studied choral conducting, which she subsequently taught at the same institution. She covers a wide repertoire and is praised for her unusually distinct and beautiful conducting technique and fine musicality. Ars Nova's collaboration with Sofi Jeannin started as early as September 2023 with three concerts featuring a purely French program, but now it is official. The collaboration will extend at least until the end of the 2026/27 season.
