The Natural World of Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen
For Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen (b.1932) simplicity is a rule of life. In his music he has developed this simplicity into an idiom with unexpected antitheses, one that allows provocation to live side by side with purity, cynicism and ecstasy. This CD presents six of his most important choral works, four of which in world première recordings. Ars Nova Copenhagen and their conductor, Paul Hillier, enjoy a longstanding friendship with Gudmundsen-Holmgreen - a unique composer who has made a very special contribution to the international repertoire of choral music.
