Grete Pedersen
The Norwegian choral conductor, Grete Pedersen, studied conducting with Kenneth Kiesler, and choral conducting with Terje Kvam and Eric Ericson.
Grete Pedersen is internationally acclaimed for her stylistically assured and musically convincing performances of baroque music, classical repertoire and contem porary music. For her work in bringing Norwegian folk music and traditional singing into the field of choral music she is regarded as a pioneer. She is professor of choral conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music and is in demand as guest conductor for various professional choirs in Europe.
In 1984 Grete Pedersen founded the Oslo Chamber Choir, of which she re mained the conductor until 2004. Most recently she has worked with the Rundfunkchor Berlin, SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart and Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Music for choir and orchestra will form an important part of her work in the coming years, in close collaboration with Oslo Sinfonietta, Ensemble Allegria and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.
Since 1990 Det Norske Solistkor has sung under the leadership of Grete Pedersen, internationally acclaimed for her stylistically assured and musically convincing performances. Through a great number of concerts in Norway and abroad, recordings for radio and television, and CD recordings, she has become one of the most noted and sought-after conductors in the Nordic countries.
